The Don Nixon Coach of the Year Award goes to the coach that is voted as presenting qualities of a great role model and leader for players in Springfield Minor Hockey.
SMHA is proud to announce that Cory Nakamura has been selected as the 2017/2018 Coach of the Year. Cory truly embodies the characteristics of sportsmanship and motivation, passing those qualities to his players during every interaction. Dedicated to ensuring every player enjoys their hockey experience while significantly increasing their skills, he seamlessly combines a challenging developmental program with engaging and enjoyable opportunities for his players. This extraordinary effort and mentorship have resulted in a fantastic hockey environment for all those around him. The SMHA program is much stronger due to Cory’s outstanding contributions.
