Hello SMHA Families,

My name is Dana Cavanagh and I am the Canteen Scheduler at Hazelridge Sports Complex. As the 2025/2026 hockey season quickly approaches I'd like to quickly go over the volunteer requirements and hopefully answer any questions anyone has. Each family is asked to do 1 -4 hour shift at the canteen.

This goes by family, not by player or activity, so if you have 2 children and 1 is playing hockey and the other is in a HFS program you are still only required to do 1 shift not the previous 2.

This was something I recently changed in the past years to help accommodate families' busy schedules. 

That being said, if you would prefer to buy out your shift or hire a student, that is always an option. The link for the buyout, as well as the sign up is below. If you would prefer to hire a student I ask that you please reach out to me directly and I will provide you with the phone numbers of the students I use.

I understand that some people would like to hire a sibling or a teammate's sibling and that is also OK but I ask that you still please contact me to let me know who will be working for you as there are a few requirements that need to be followed. The most important one is that they must be 16 years old to work by themselves in the canteen.
